South Meadow to Algonquin, Iroquois, and Avalanche Lake

Owlhead Lookout, crossover to Rocky Peak Ridge and Giant

Heading to set camp	careful river crossing	dinner ledge
picking a rock to observe the beaver pond	busted	but they show themselves
and their tails	calling it a day	wee hour morning brings a blurry eyed rock hop
a drive to South Meadow and hike to Marcy dam	climbing Algonquin powered by toaster pastries	the reward of treeline
and splendid views	and a bit of a breeze calls for wind gear	mountain cranberries
splendid grass on Algonquin	rest out of the wind	Boundary and Iroquios battle the clouds
an under-rock glimpse of Colden	heading toward Iroquois	a fine descent
scramble upward	lunch on Iroquois	with a view
a view toward Wallface	and the descent begins	it seems Algonquin now hosts crowds
a mite of mud on the herdpath	and view on the Descent toward Lake Colden	taping toes
dripping mushrooms	reaching Avalanche Lake	Boardwalk on Avalanche Mountain

catepillar	back to Marcy Dam	passing a small snake
Next day brings us to 9N heading to OwlHead Lookout; Indian cucumuber fruit	climbing Owlhead	grand view
great spot for breakfast	holding onto the rock	slimey curtains
where we exit the trail	and wander through the woods to crossover to the Rocky Peak Ridge trail	passing lovely mushrooms
reaching the river	a rest at rivers split	one more timer shot of the rest at the river: the camera fell in; thus ends Cliff's camera

Thankfully Jordan had his camera too. Some earlier shots that included Cliff, and then the trip continues.

a couple hours later, over to the other ridge, looking back at Bald	grand views from	the east end of Rocky Peak Ridge
a fabulous place to stop for lunch	Lake Marie Louise	cranberries
and the summit of Rocky Peak Ridge brings fine views east	and west	soon we are on Giant with fine views west into the glare of sun
a long hike back to Owlhead Lookout and soon enough we are done
