Beginning at Tahawus |
the trail passes lovely old trees |
hobblebush |
painted trillium |
streambeds with sharp edged gravel |
a glimpse of Indian Pass |
climb among huge boulders |
grand view from summit rock |
view among the boulders |
red trillium in the pass |
usual wet slippery descent |
to the next junction |
I take a wet cut to Scotts clearing |
get a view of the old dam |
and listen to a black capped chickadee |
lots of wetland on the way to Scotts pond |
nearing the pond where I break |
snow on the trail |
and worse near Wallface pond |
but the pond is low |
outlet between ponds |
a scramble to the summit |
then descending the other side |
soon the stream defines a pathway |
and then |
a wonderful |
sequence |
of |
waterfalls |
a half flume too wet to follow today |
but it is a fine sight |
last falls |
back on the trail enjoying wetlands |
an old pully |
Preston pond |
log for a trail |
across the river and then back to upper works |
