Macomb, South Dix and Grace with LOSt
September 2015

A two mile road walk from overflow parking	gets us to the trailhead	swift morning log hops
simple bridges	where the herdpath meets the trail	lovely mushroom forest
a hint of the mountain	as we continue on the herdpath	the base of the slide
first view of elk lake	finding a place for a good snack	above the lower sand-boulder climb
climb	on	hang out
taking a break	more rock	to climb
the view from Macomb	which we enjoy	down toward south dix
where we	have fun	scrambles
we find a good place for a break	pose	then carry on
a little ledge	we reach the	summit
of Grace	but cross over for a nicer lunch view
		a pose
and the descent	begins	we pause to
pose for	some pictures	hanging out
lots more	descending
		finally reaching
broad open rock	where we descend	for a good while
more to go	finding the bottom of the slide	stream beside the forest descent
mushrooms	a swimming hole	old beaver pond
a river crossing	and another	rock above
shoe box falls were we swim and chill	another swimming hole on the way out	next morning we begin on a woods road toward iron
and snag a bit of trail in the works	then huff and puff upward	to the first lookout
finding shade	a scramble	to the second lookout
with lovely views	descending	and finding the third view
pines laden with cones	descending	with some open rock
a tree stands sentry
