McComb, S. Dix and Grace, Paddles and Pitchoff East with Zach

On the trail	bridge is out	but the cairn is where the herdpath begins
trillium fruit	onto the slide	we clambor to some rocks
for snacking	lots of climbing	one step at a time
red rock	classic boulder near the top	slightly awkward scramble
lunch on McComb	hint of a view	getting better
a blink of blue	descending
looking ahead to South Dix	onto open rock	rest with a view
taking in the view from the top	Indian pipes	rest before climbing Grace
to the top	views south	and east from the other side

a last look toward Giant and Rocky Peak Ridge	descending	open rock

we rest on the low river boulders	pass an old beaver pond	a pretty mushroom
we pop down to check out Shoe box falls	off for a paddle on the Raquette river from Axton landing	getting started
a private, hand run cable car across the river	up	the low river we go
almost a channel to a pond beside the river	red flowers	waterbug swarm
we lunch on the stairs to a leanto	in the shade	continuing up the river
a very muddy place to check maps	finally landing above the first rapids	further up
Zach paddles up	great blue guards the lower fallls	start back with a short run of the rapids
back we go	family of common merganser	a rest
river as a mirror	another day a climb of Pitchoff East	steep ascent
into the lushous col	ferns in a crack	old mushrooms
onto the ridge	a rest	almost a view

lovely descent	we break at a lookout	on to balanced rocks

the rocks	around and out from the crevise	down to Cascade lake
