Trail-less E'town #4, Spotted and Grace with REUers
June 2019

Into the trail-less Dix wilderness; we decide to avoid a river crossing	a herd path leads to a campsite above shoebox falls	into the woods
along the river	we give to to wet feet	we visit lilypad pond
which beckons		an old beaver pond
we take a break	before crossing the south fork
		a newt
ascending in the woods	a hint of a view	scrambling
to a view	and a rest	lots more
scrambling	better views
	On E'town #4	we pose
rest		and
explore	spotted mountain beckons	but first we descend
ascending	finding a toad	a pink lady slipper
we have come far above E'town #4	wide views
more to go	lunch time with a view	bunch berries
bleached tree	spotted summit	preparing to move onward
onward	making progress
through lots of brush	onto the shoulder of Grace	enjoying the wind
	onto grace	we made it

and descending	we have descended a long way	near the bottom of the slide
now a long hike on herdpaths; needing headlamps near the old beaver pond	next day brings paddling on cascade lake	beneath the falls
