Indian Head, Hopkins, and Crowfoot pond

Heavy snow slowly sliding	on the road to Indian Headwp1190690.jpg	blink of blue and Sawteeth
onto trail	blue ice	icy ladder
more ice	onto the ridge	Lower Ausable
but not much of the great range is visible	holding up the snow	heading down
Start toward Hopkins	over the river	reaching the footpath
follow old footprints	crossing the stream	footprints become snowshoe prints
by the junction the snowshoer had turned around	leaving me to break snow	and find the trail
next junction lead to a steep climb	climbing into a tree corridor	leading to the sloped viewpoint
deep drifts	vague views	heading down
it is much easier to follow the trail	blooms in New Russia	Crowfoot parking lot plowed in
new bridge	over a tricky stream	old footprints lead the way
another bridge	obstacles	footprints end
breaking snow again	no pondside place to repose	ice axe through the ice discourages exploration
and the trail	meet private land	a peek of the pond
