We head into a trailless area to set up a base camp on the S. Bouquet river. We begin by crossing the roadside swimming hole
on the N. Bouquet |
shoe box falls |
sVisiting a breached beaver dam |
Cliff double packing |
A frog |
Some swamp crossing on the cross over to the S. Bouquet |
The stream above camp |
Hanging the bear bag rope |
Dinner time on the rocks |
We visited a gorge below camp after hanging the bear bag |
We head out early (5am). The moon is visible above E. Dix through the trees |
We just walk up the stream, |
stopping for breakfast |
Eventually there is some snow |
Actaully it is quite deep on the crossover to the correct slide |
The slide has lots of snow at its base |
and we have a long climb ahead. |
The sun was sparkling off dripping water |
We've climbed quite a bit |
but need to make our way up a little ledge |
Above the ledge the slide is mixed sand and rock. We are getting close to the top. |
We make it to the top |
where Kris finds a rock to hang out on |
And another good rock hang out |
There is a long descent along trail |
So getting a cool head at lunch time is welcome |
We pass Dix pond |
and follow the slide brook route toward Macomb |
Red rocks in the river |
Contemplating the climb |
Come on Kris, it is easy. |
There is a nice view from the top of the slide |
But there is more exhausting climbing to do |
